They are the lowest priority when it comes to protection, as opposed to loyalists, or Civil Workers. Citizens are usually weak from malnutrition, and spend much of their time either talking to each other, working at Combine factories, or simply walking around. They are extremely oppressed and usually do not have the spirit to fight back. They are forced to have the bare minimum of food and supplies. The Combine is the most complicated faction as they are split into multiple sub-factions, the Overwatch Transhuman Arm, the Metro Police Force, and Civil Protection.Ĭitizens are humans that live under control of the Combine. The Combine is what the humans chose to call the UU as they, "combine" organic life with machinery. The Universal Union is a massive, "empire" that spans an unknown number of parallel universes, turning the inhabitants into cybernetic super soldiers and marching on the next planet. Their main goal is to be safe and get the best treatment from the Combine.
Yet they don't join the Resistance as infiltrator, they would be too scared of the Combine labeling them as rebel too. Loyalist live by the combine rules, they never do anything wrong and report every rule breaking they see.
About the Resistance, not much is known, they are an underground band of freedom fighters that make it as hard as possible for the Combine to reach their goals. The anti-citizen can be part of the Resistance, but can also be on him or herself. They are to be arrested on sight and catching/reporting an anti-citizen will give you a ration reward. You can be neutral, meaning you just follow their rules and try to survive you can be an anti-citizen or a loyalist.Īn anti-citizen is against the combine rules and laws. You're a citizen in the HL2 universe, your main goal is to make a living under the oppression of the Combine. Their goal is to exterminate humanity as it is and then move on to the next planet, they show no mercy and you will fear them. The Combine are not your friend so do not act as such towards them, you will likely get beaten. The Combine enforces Civil Law Codes and detains citizens who act rebellious. This makes them more obedient and combat-ready. Some Combine humans, such as the Overwatch, have had various brainwashings and organ transplants. There are no more “Cops”, members of CMB with a white mask and green uniforms are known as Civil Protection Units.
They are a superior force with more technology than the humans would have had in a long time. The Combine has taken over Earth in 7 hours. The Combine is set in the Half-Life 2 universe.
